Romantic fairytale floral installation for a summer wedding in the north of england

Leafy green English garden set up as a wedding ceremony with chairs and floral pillars

Outdoor wedding ceremony space at Kirklinton Hall and Gardens, Lake District

Kirklinton Hall and Gardens is one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces for a romantic wedding in the Lake District. “It also lends itself perfectly to people who want a destination wedding vibe, right here in the UK.” An outdoor space can be the most wonderful choice for your wedding ceremony and create beautiful, intimate celebrations. The summer dream was to create flowery magic using luxurious, gorgeous David Austin wedding roses in a natural wildflower setting. Soft pastel colours were chosen with delicate foliage which would create a natural movement and feel very in keeping with an outdoor setting. The design feels light and playful - a summer fairytale.

Romantic outdoor wedding ceremony flowers

This dreamy installation was created with the fairytale wedding in mind.  A stunning outdoor setting in a glorious English garden was the perfect starting point.  The views from the terrace create such a lovely atmosphere for guests to assemble whilst they catch up with friends before your ceremony. Seeing this glorious garden view was the starting point for the inspiration.  The aim was to create something pretty and lovely, yet completely in keeping with the beautiful garden setting, as though it had grown there naturally.

Kirklinton Hall and Gardens ENCHANTING WEDDING VENUE

The venue was the fabulous Kirklinton Hall and Gardens. This is an enchanting, historic estate offering the perfect backdrop for any wedding or event. Surrounded by 14 acres of formal gardens, woodland and meadow, it is just made for flower lovers and floral weddings. In summer, garden roses tumble over the beautiful brick structures in every colour, their fragrance lingering in the air late into the summer’s evening. Simply turning into the magnificent driveway to Kirklinton transports the viewer into a different time and space. A magical world, miles away from reality, yet actually only 10 minutes from the centre of Carlisle.

David Austin Wedding Roses

Choosing from the range of incredible David Austin Wedding Roses was such a joyful experience. The roses are exquisitely beautiful and come in many colours for every palette. These roses have personality and story behind them. It’s like catching up with old friends. As is often the case, a wedding budget for flowers must be considered so we could not just have them all. Juliet, Purity, Kiera and Patience were chosen. Please let me introduce these absolute beauties.

Juliet Rose is my all time favourite.  She is a perfect cupped rose with paler petals to the outside and many delicate folds of soft rich peach inside.  This clever peach colour enhances most palettes and is the essence of a timeless rose, bringing something very special to any wedding.

Purity Rose is a huge, delicate, stunning white or ivory rose.  She is the epitome of a Wedding Rose. Delicate, never overpowering, yet utterly unforgettable.

Kiera Rose.  Oh Kiera.  I first used her in a wedding in 2019 and have been captivated ever since. Each rose is different.  A subtle ripple of raspberry pink swirled with perfect creamy white, with each flower looking unique and unexpected.  A touch of frivolous elegance.

Patience Rose. She is stunning. Large, soft creamy lemon ruffles with so many perfect petals and a delicious rose fragrance. I think she should be a requirement for every wedding flower scheme because without patience, where are any of us?

ENGLISH GARDEN ROSES

These lovely roses are garden roses and although they sit perfectly in just about every setting, a romantic English country garden of wildflowers, bees and butterflies seems their natural home. Pillars of tumbling flowers were created to blend into the surrounding greenery, creating a magical fairytale wedding ceremony.

BRITISH FLOWERS FOR A GARDEN STYLE FLORAL WEDDING

British flowers were used to add movement and a delicate romance. Daisies, sweetpeas, japanese anemones, dahlias, ammi, cosmos and vines in the prettiest set up, as though growing right out of the ground. A touch of blue was added with oxypetalum and cornflower for that dainty floral blue. Whimsical wedding magic was added with soft asparagus fern and dancing thalictrum.  This caught the light so beautifully as the sun gently fell towards sunset.

WEDDING FLORIsT BASED on the borders of cheshire, shropshire and staffordshire

An installation such as this takes time to set up, and I was delighted to be helped with this pretty set up by my lovely flower friend, Sorrel from Sorrel Primrose Flowers. Flowers are always joyful, but especially so when shared.

Please take a moment to look at the gallery of images below, so perfectly captured by fine art photographer Jessica Reeves Photography. If you have any questions please do get in touch. I’d love to talk to you about weddings, flowers and hopefully both. Please get in touch now to check my availability for your date.
